CA1C provides tools to explore estimated average glucose, A1C, diabetes risk factors, and food glycemic index values. These Terms of Use apply to ca1c.com and its calculators, database, accounts, and related features. By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using it.
1. Educational use and medical limits
CA1C provides general information for education. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a clinician–patient relationship. Calculator results, risk scores, and food values are estimates or reference information, not individualized recommendations.
An estimated A1C is not a laboratory A1C test, and a risk score does not diagnose or rule out diabetes. Do not start, stop, or adjust medication, insulin, diet, or treatment based solely on this website. Discuss your results and health decisions with a qualified healthcare professional. Do not delay medical care because of something you read here. The website is not an emergency service; seek urgent local medical help when needed.
2. Calculator and food database results
Results depend on the information and units you enter, the formulas used, and the limits of the underlying research. Check your inputs and units. Individual circumstances can affect how well an estimate applies to you.
Glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL) values come from different sources and may vary with preparation, portion, testing method, and the person eating the food. GL values depend on the source's carbohydrate portion and may not describe your serving. Missing values do not mean zero. When records have the same food title, the search displays the highest reported GI available in our records; this selection is not a clinical recommendation or a guarantee of your glucose response.
We aim to keep the information useful but do not guarantee that it is complete, current, error-free, or suitable for your circumstances. Please report suspected errors through our contact page.
3. Accounts and information you submit
If you create an account, keep your login credentials secure and use an email address you control. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Tell us through the contact page if you suspect unauthorized access.
Features that save calculations or risk-test results store information on the website's server. Do not treat CA1C as your medical record or your only copy of important information. Provide information you are entitled to submit, and avoid entering identifying or sensitive information into public search fields or contact messages unless necessary.
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. Contact us with account, correction, or deletion requests; applicable privacy rights are not limited by these terms.
4. Translation and third-party services
The website may use Google services to translate pages and food searches. When enabled, automatic search translation sends the submitted search text to Google; page translation also involves Google's translation service. Translations can be inaccurate, especially for short food names, medical terms, and preparation methods. Check the original English text and confirm important information with a qualified professional.
External websites, research sources, and service providers have their own terms and privacy practices. Links and references are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement. CA1C does not control their content or availability.
5. Permitted use
You may use the website for lawful personal and educational purposes. Do not attempt unauthorized access, interfere with another user's account, upload malicious code, bypass security or rate limits, or disrupt the service. Do not use automated tools to scrape the database, harvest personal information, or bypass crawler restrictions without our written permission, except where applicable law permits the activity.
Do not present estimates or database results as verified medical findings, impersonate someone else, or use the service to harm others. We may restrict access reasonably necessary to address abuse, protect users, or maintain the service.
6. Content and source rights
CA1C's original branding, design, and content belong to their respective rights holders. Research, datasets, software, and other third-party materials retain their own licenses and rights. Their inclusion here does not grant ownership or permission to redistribute them. Respect source attribution and applicable license conditions. These terms do not restrict rights granted by an open-source or open-data license or by applicable law.
7. Availability, warranties, and liability
We may change, interrupt, or discontinue features. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, uninterrupted availability, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, CA1C and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the website or reliance on its information. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or any mandatory consumer rights. Any limitation applies only to the extent the law allows it.
8. Changes and questions
We may revise these terms as the website changes. The updated text and revision date will be posted here. Changes apply going forward; any additional notice or consent required by applicable law will still apply.
For questions about these terms, source permissions, accessibility, or the website, use our contact page.
